Open Kindergarten
What is Open Kindergarten?
Open Kindergarten offer parents and carers peer-to-peer interaction and professional support in a relaxed, unstructured, parent-led environment. The sessions provide a space for children to play and interact and for parents and carers to build their parenting networks and develop new skills.
Midlothian Sure Start are one of the founding organisations of the partnership with Children in Scotland and Parenting Across Scotland who brought the Open Kindergarten approach to Scotland. Since 2019, we have been the delivery partner testing the model with families in new communities and new local authority areas (2025). Now in our current phase, we are scaling up to offer practitioners and organisations the opportunity to access the learning programme fully funded by the Scottish Government.
